Memorial Spray Park

Owner: City of Altoona/Central Blair Recreation & Park Commission Project Description:

The Memorial Spray Park project involved the demolition and filling of the existing Memorial Pool to construct an at grade water park. This new spray park was noted by RainDrop, Inc., equipment provider, as one of the largest of its kind on the east coast at 11,000 SF.

Keller Engineers’ Land Development team took on this project, which included several permanent shade umbrellas and perimeter seating along with the construction of a new pavilion and the renovation of an existing pavilion. Additionally, this project involved the construction of a 3,600 SF playground, resurfacing of an existing basketball court, and providing ADA accessible parking.

Project Uniqueness/Challenges:

The Memorial Spray Park project was unique because it required coordination of specialized equipment, plumbing and electrical systems, along with the retrofitting of the existing mechanical room.
